Day number 4 - from Phuket to Khao Lak

Kai accompanied us to the tiny airport in Chiang Rai where we signed up for a flight with VITJETAIR. I heard a lot about them (and mostly bad things), "flying bus" for example.

How great was our surprise when we boarded a modern plane, with lots of legroom and which was half empty.

The flight lasted nearly two hours, at the end of which we landed in Phuket.

Even before take off, the car rental company contacted me on WHATSAPP to make sure I arrive and everything is according to plan, because they are waiting for me at the airport. Indeed, a kind representative was waiting for me (but unfortunately not strong in English) who filled in all the details with me, and while my wife was making sure to fill the pantry for the trip, we went over the car to check and note all the damage and scratches that exist in it.

I didn't get the most modern vehicle, but I was mainly looking for a practical one that could accommodate 5 people and lots of luggage.

I took a Toyota with 7 seats, automatic with a gasoline engine for 9 days, and the total cost was about NIS 1000, which was rented from PURECARRENT

After everything was loaded on the vehicle, we activated GOOGLE MAPS, and set off.

In Thailand you drive the other way around (on the left side of the road) so those who are not used to it, it takes a little time to get used to it. Therefore, especially at the beginning it is important to sit with another responsible adult who will look at the road, which is already full of different types of motorcycles.

On the map we marked the next destination - Khao Lak - a resort town that some say is good, others say sleepy, but we decided to try it, and we are so happy about it, in retrospect!

After about an hour and a half of driving, the navigation software asked us to turn left, into a side road. Seconds later we found ourselves in a rural and green area, but we trusted the software and continued to drive according to the instructions.

Two minutes later, we interrupted two lazy dogs in the middle of the road so we could pass, then entered a road that seemed to be just inside a jungle.

We continued to drive slowly, and then we saw this…

We arrived at the reception, a light check was put on us and our luggage was taken from us. I went to put the car in the parking lot while one of the hotel employees chases after me with a golf cart, to bring me back to the reception.

Now I would like to point out, this is about a distance of 100 meters... but it was important to them that I not walk it.

When we entered the lobby, this is what awaited us...

We drank, rested and received a lecture about what the hotel offers, and from there we continued to the room, closely accompanied by someone from the reception. We booked ahead of time a room with a connecting door, and when we entered this is what we saw

Of course the children did not wait even a moment and immediately jumped into the water. The descent to the pool that surrounds all the rooms on the ground floor is directly from the room.

We were sure that we were alone in the hotel, because apart from one other guest, we did not see a living soul there. In retrospect, it turned out that the hotel is so huge and they probably scattered all the guests so that they wouldn't be on top of each other....

It was already late afternoon, the children were hungry and action was required on our part. The hotel is far from the city but as soon as there is an attached car, it is already less than a year.

I drove to a pizzeria called Pinocchio, I bought 2 pizzas from there (NIS 30) and while they prepared them, I made a trip to the nearby supermarket. There is also a supermarket near the hotel where we shopped when we arrived, but it is a supermarket for tourists and the price - accordingly.

I returned with the pizzas, everyone was satisfied and in the evening we went out to the city to eat at another restaurant.

I don't know what the deal is with the restaurant names, but after lunch at Pinocchio, we found ourselves having dinner at the Peterpan restaurant.

Here too we got a good meal that suited our very sensitive Israeli palate :-)

I promise you, if I had known what was going to happen to us the next day, I would have made sure to eat another portion....

We went to sleep, towards the fifth day
