Day number 2 - from Chiang Mai to Chiang Rai

We started the morning (really!!!) early at six o'clock. We got organized quickly and went down to the dining room already at six thirty in the morning, because we had arranged with Kai for seven thirty.

The luggage was loaded into the luxurious van. The cold drink was waiting for us and we set off.

Here too, as in South Africa, we discovered that there is a different attitude towards seat belts and in general - the traffic on the road flows in all directions, so you have to look carefully at all sides, all the time.

Yes, you can see well. There are people sitting in the van and there is another person who is just standing outside.

After about an hour and a half driving through stunning scenery we arrived here

It's an ecological farm that grows rice and other things, and it's also a rehabilitation elephant farm. It was important to us to visit such a farm and not one that encourages abuse or riding elephants.

We dressed in traditional costumes and went for a walk in the pasture

We came to four very nice elephants, and brought them bananas to eat. It turns out that an elephant eats about 200 kg of food a day, which consists of bananas and reeds.

After that we went for a walk in the area with them. Note that there is no use of sticks and if the elephant wants to stop to eat something, they wait for him. They are definitely well taken care of.

Then the elephants came in to take a bath...

And we are following them

When an elephant enters the pool it's just like the wave pool in Shafiim WaterPark, but when four elephants enter the pool, the effect is completely different....

We got to the farm via Kai. It is not possible to get there by regular vehicle and a jeep was waiting for us at the entry point, where we changed cars. Our driver was waiting for us in a van, and we continued the drive of a few minutes towards the farm.

We said goodbye to the elephants and continued towards the next destination, and we didn't know exactly what we were going towards...

After an hour's drive we stopped, put on harnesses, got on the back of a vehicle and drove standing up. For a moment we felt a bit like the locals here...

Then we walked in the jungle...

And we climbed quite a few stairs...

And we started a fast omega journey from point to point, the longest of which is 500 meters. How long does such a trip take? About a minute when you hang between heaven and earth and are at the mercy of a small iron cable and a lovable pulley that bounces on it. Totally relaxing.

After we finished the omega track which lasted about an hour and a half, the girls wanted to swing on this crazy swing. I preferred to wait on the side and take pictures...

When we finished, we found out why it was worth taking Kai. We found out that there is a 2 km downhill track with buggy cars, and we decided to do it. Those who came through booking a tour - left immediately at the end of the Omega back, while we enjoyed this cool karting. Worth it and recommended!!!

The kids wanted to do another round...

After driving the route, when we got down, Kai was already waiting for us with the driver and we set off for the next station. We told her that our children have sensitive palates and don't really connect with Thai food. She told us not to worry and after about an hour of driving, we arrived at a stunning restaurant!

We walked in and wanted to sit down, but the waitress waved us off and said we couldn't sit at the table we wanted... instead she took us and seated us all in a private room that Kai arranged for us.

And the food? it was great!

After eating our hearts out, we continued on to the hotel in Chiang Rai. Since the road is long, we stopped for a short rest in hot springs. Sorry. Boiling fire. At a level where you simply cannot put your feet inside.

Right next door there are women who put eggs in water, cook them and sell hard-boiled eggs. We didn't try...

The sun went down, silence fell on the car and when the sun went down we arrived at the MORA hotel in torrential rain. We learned not to be excited by the rain, which seemed that if it rained - it was mostly at night and if during the day - then for half an hour and an hour intermittently.

The hotel welcomed us with joy and umbrellas!

And more than that - it turns out that there is a trend to shoot with a film camera, so we ordered film through a website called LAZDA (which is actually AliExpress in Thailand) and it was waiting for us at the hotel. The hotel was nice and kind enough to coordinate the delivery with the post office and when we arrived there were 2 packages of film waiting for us. Now we just have to wait and see how the pictures turned out...

We went to bed tired and exhausted, but Kai reminded us that tomorrow too - we should get up early because we have a busy day ahead of us...
